Steve C. Silver started the business as a sole proprietorship in April 1983 selling inexpensive imported goods from a roadside stand. The company went into furniture and grew. The business operated from a 10,000 square-foot building on Highway 80 in Forney, TX. In 1987, after Norman G. Preskitt joined the company, they incorporated and moved to 303 E. Hwy. 80 in Forney, Texas, which is 60,000 sqft. In December 1994 the company entered into a capital lease with the City of Forney, resulting from job creation financing. In 2011 the lease was bought out and SSC obtained title. In July 2000 SSC moved their headquarters to the newly built distribution center at 1000 FM 548 North. This building has been added onto over the years and now totals 417,000 sqft. of warehousing and office space. From its humble origins SSC has grown into a national provider of value casual dining and occasional furniture. The company now has over 2000 active customers including strong relationships with some of the finest furniture retailers in the United States. In February of 2012 Steve Silver became an Employee Owned Company.(ESOP)
