In 1997 Jamie Young Jeter and David Jeter, both artists with a passion for travel, took a day trip to Mexico, where they filled their car trunk with interesting gardening pots they discovered in a roadside shop. They returned to Los Angeles and promptly sold the entire haul to a local florist. Recognizing an underserved market, they began to design and produce their own line of flower pots, only to discover that the rustic, hand-crafted quality of the pieces would make unusual bases for lamps, and with this conversion, the Jamie Young Company was born. Their love of travel and desire to understand other cultures, took them all over the world discovering ancient art forms, incredible textiles, and an overwhelming desire to create wonderful eclectic designs. They have a great niche for what is current without being trendy. Their take on designs can go from traditional, transitional to trend forward. Both Jamie and David are constantly pushing the envelope with new materials, new designs and new categories for living everyday in style.
In less than a decade, Jamie and David’s modest start grew into a thriving lighting and home accessories enterprise with over 25 employees in its Los Angeles headquarters and an experienced sales force with a permanent show room in Los Angeles. Today, the company’s products are available at the top lifestyle and furniture stores in the US, as well as through interior designers.
Both are accomplished artists. Jamie, a Los Angeles native, received her training at Parson’s School of Design in New York, while David received his at the San Francisco Art Institute. Jamie’s 15 years of experience in commercial art, design, and marketing merged with David’s 20 years starting as a sculpture and master mold maker as well as in the design and production of high-end furniture. They have created a formula for innovation, consistency, and unparalleled craftsmanship.
