GuildMaster is one of the hottest companies in the home furnishings industry, a rapidly growing, vertically integrated manufacturer of design-driven furniture, lighting, accessories and wall art. Founded in Springfield, MO in 1981, we now own and operate manufacturing facilities in Indonesia and China where we employ nearly 400 trained artisans under the direct supervision of company founders. We build our handcrafted originals to the highest possible standards, emphasizing solid mahogany construction, hand carving and painted accents. We are also a must see destination at all the major markets with permanent showrooms in High Point, Las Vegas, Dallas and Atlanta.
Our award-winning design work is widely recognized including a dozen nominations for ART awards, commonly in a vintage European motif with naturalistic distressing. We are very active in new product development, introducing hundreds of new items every year to keep the line fresh and exciting. And we are committed to being able to supply dealers of all sizes from larger retailers to independents to interior designers with an array of products, price points and services appealing to each. And best of all, our products sell quickly off our Retailers floors.
At GuildMaster, we recognize it is every company’s responsibility to operate in a manner that is respectful of people and the planet. We employ hundreds of workers at our overseas factories and treat them with the same rights and privileges of their U.S. counterparts. We donate time and money to support orphanages in both Indonesia and China. And we are constantly working to improve the eco friendliness of all of our business practices. We are full members of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, and our head of operations has earned accreditation through their GREENleaders Certified Sustainability Training program.
One of our main sustainability initiatives is a tree replanting program we set up in Indonesia. Deforestation is a significant problem in many countries in the developing world, nowhere more so than in this island nation where forest coverage has declined -20% over the past 20 years. To help combat this devastation, we created our own program to replace the mahogany trees that we use to build our furniture, replanting over a thousand trees so far.
We emphasize solid wood construction to minimize the use of adhesives and other additives and use only low formaldehyde formulations to reduce harmful off-gassing of VOC’s. We are currently experimenting with water-based lacquer finishes to reduce them even further. And we have an ongoing project to identify ways to pack products more efficiently to minimize transportation and waste.
