BARONET: WOOD-INSPIRED DESIGN

As a noble, timeless and solid material, wood has been feeding the imagination of Baronet designers since 1942. Many things have changed since the foundation of the company, but certainly not the love of its creative team for wood.

Initially a furniture maker for schools and public sector in the 1950s, the company evolved greatly in the 1960s to be at the forefront of the children furniture making and distribution market in Canada. The arrival of Ivan Lacroix as Creative Director towards the end of the 1980s reiterated the mission and commitment of the company to achieve the ultimate in furniture quality and design. Baronet became a leader of the contemporary residential wood furniture market in North-America.

From the onset, as the son and grand-son of lumber businessmen, Ivan Lacroix obviously favored wood for the making of his furniture, thus inspiring his designing teams over the years by creating a partnership with design leaders and particularly Vello Hubel, his mentor.

Supply sources gradually changed: from the Ottawa Valley to New England, to the Appalachian Mountains, but Baronet furniture was always made by expert cabinet makers who loved wood, sharing the same unique know-how inherited from the past and close to traditional fine crafts. Recipient of several prestigious awards such as the Modernism Award in 2003, Baronet stands out by its unique style, often copied, but still unrivalled.

The new Baronet collections are designed in Québec, Canada and made in the USA, in West Virginia.
