Ball & Ball

Prior to 1700 our Ball ancestors were skilled metal workers in England, holding appointment as armour makers to the crown. Succeeding generations worked in metals, including William Ball, a silversmith who established his business in Philadelphia from 1752-1810.

Ball and Ball, founded in 1932 by my father Wm. Ball Jr. with his brother George, has continued since George left in 1936 as a sole proprietorship. First, with my father and since 1971 with myself Wm. Whitman Ball as owner.

In 1998, the company was returned to partnership status by including my sons William W. Ball Jr., and Robert A. Ball; and Bill’s wife Jo Ann, in the ownership of the business.

In 2002, Bob’s wife, Pamela, was made a partner. Having my 2 sons and their wives as partners to carry on the 3rd generation of Ball and Ball is a proud progression for me; and, as each of them has 2 sons, the possibility of Ball and Ball being carried forward to a 4th generation succession of a family business appears promising!

I hope the long standing tradition of metal working in the Ball family will continue with them and on through with their children. We all hope we can be of service to you.
