Andes International knew its small beginnings in 1988 in Westport, Connecticut, where Fernando Urquiza, a Chilean native began importing selected, high quality furniture and accessories from South America and Europe. By pairing the principles of artistry and business sense, his venture was a success and he soon opened a workshop in Chile in 1991, allowing him to control the manufacturing of furniture, noble and lasting in quality. What began as a small group of 10 members soon burgeoned to include more than 100 employees; keeping the original group of craftsmen but enhancing the company by adding more of the best furniture makers found in this part of the world.

During the first years, the main focus was quality. The upper management was based at the factory in Santiago, concentrating on the development of manufacturing capabilities that upheld the demanding ideas of quality, beauty, and fine construction. By 1998, the factory moved to a newly built location of 70,000 square feet, equipped with state of the art machinery. However, Andes maintained the crafted quality and look by keeping the same craftsmen and the hand finishing processes.

In September 2002, Andes International moved its corporate offices to Boulder, Colorado. Fernando, President and CEO, is based in Boulder where he now heads the US operations. The new US management team advances main goals, to maintain a higher standard in furniture production and design, and strives to develop and expand a supportive customer service policy. Continued efforts such as these make Andes attractive in quality of product and superior in personalized attention to each buyer.
